Flite Team Edition White
Selle Italia sponsors upwards of 10 or 15 teams in the top tier of pro cycling, and starting in the 2008 season they came up with a smart idea to promote that fact. See, in the past Selle Italia-sponsored riders could choose any saddle they wanted in any color they wanted. That's pretty neat, except for the lack of visual continuity for Selle Italia. In different photos you'd see different saddles, and after awhile you were never sure what brand of saddle you were seeing. So in '08 they took the two saddles the pros loved the best -- the Flite and the SLR Gel Flow -- and they made a "Team Edition" of each they issued to all the pros. The net effect is that every time you saw one of these saddles in the pro peloton, you saw the same thing: A crisp white cover with an abbreviated red stripe running across part of its length. It's known as the Flite Genuine Gel Team edition, it's a gorgeous design, and it's whiteness is, of course, so PRO.
Except for the "Team Issue" colour, this is otherwise a stock Flite saddle. It shares all the critical design attributes of the standard Flite: Thanks to its 10% carbon composite shell it tips the scales at 200g -- light by any standard. Its thin "self-modeling" padding gives it comfort that even medium-weight to heavy riders will like. Its Ti 316 rails are made from super-light titanium alloy tubes with a "titanized" finish. They're ovalized at a 7mm width and a 8.5mm height, and the inherent characteristics of Ti give you some added shock absorbency. 130mm wide, 280mm long.
