Selle Italia SLR Carbon C64 grm Saddle
Totally made from carbon weighing at an extraordinary light 76 grams. It was developed in close collaboration with several professional cyclists, such as Jan Ullrich, Tyler Hamilton and Davide Rebellin, whose contribution allowed the shape of this totally carbon saddle to be developed along purely anatomical lines, hence dispelling all doubts about the comfort of unpadded saddles.
Shell: Weight 40g. In order to provide greater resistance only where needed, it is made from stratified carbon fibre featuring varied thicknesses depending on the various saddle areas (support or discharge) and the weight they are required to support. Another new technology is used by Selle Italia to eliminate the air gaps that are naturally present between the carbon fibres which, due to natural physical principles, can cause the fibres to break. To solve the problem these shell areas have been injected with special resins which make the saddle even more resistant and flexible.
Rail: Uses long carbon fibre technology. This increases the bending resistance of the saddle rail even though it only weighs just 30 grams. To increase shear resistance of the rail and prevent the weight of the cyclist from concentrating on too small an area of just carbon fibre and to protect it from wear and stress, the rail has been further strengthened with split Vanox tubes in the central saddle support seat post cradle area.
